The beginning

This is a completely new initiative of Lodz musicians, who decided to establish a large jazz orchestra playing with the line-up characteristic for classic big bands: saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a rhythm section. The artists include academic teachers, musicians of the Lodz Philharmonic, the Grand Theatre and the Musical Theatre in Lodz, members of many well-known Polish jazz and entertainment ensembles.

Repertoire

”Big Band is primarily swing music. We try to make our listeners experience “live” music from the “golden era of jazz” from the middle of the last century, when the famous orchestras of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington or Woody Herman played,” comments saxophonist Jakub Raczyński.

Full freedom

What is the undoubted superiority of a big band over other orchestras?

The main difference is that you can't dance with a symphony orchestra and you can't sit down with a dance orchestra. But with a big band – full freedom! You can do whatever you want!
